Crisis Resources

At Progress Not Perfection Counseling, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. While our therapists are dedicated to providing support and guidance during scheduled therapy sessions, we are not equipped to offer immediate crisis intervention or emergency services. Please carefully review the following guidelines for handling emergencies and crises.

1. In case of an Emergency

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or crisis, please do NOT wait for a therapy appointment or attempt to contact your therapist through our website or social media. Instead take one of the following actions immediately:  

  • Call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room

  • Contact 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988, for Veterans, Press 1 to reach the Veterans Crisis Line

  • For Orange County NY- Dial 311 for The Orange County Crisis Call Center

  • Reach out to your local Crisis Line

  • Text HOPE to 741-741 to reach the Crisis Text Line

2. Urgent Mental Health Support

If you are not in immediate danger but need Urgent Mental Health Support, Consider Contacting one of these Resources: 

  • National Suicide Lifeline-Call/Text 988

  • Orange County Crisis Call Center (NY)- 311

  • SAMHSA’s (substance abuse) National Helpline : 1-800-662-HELP (4357)

  • Crisis Text Line (National): Text HOPE to 741-741

  • The Trevor Project for LGBTQ Youth: Call 1-866-488-7386 or Text START to 678-678

  • National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Helpline: 1-800-950-NAMI (6264)

  • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)Helpline: 1800-622-HELP(4357)

  • RAINN(Sexual Assault Hotline): 1-800-656-HOPE (4673)

3. Non-Emergency Situations

If you are not in crisis but would like to reach your therapist for non-urgent situations: 

  • Use the client portal to schedule or change appointments

  • Contact your therapist through the official communication methods provided during your intake

  • Please allow up to 48 hours for a response for non-urgent messages

4. Limitations of Contact Outside of Sessions

  • Therapists at Progress Not Perfection Counseling are not available for 24/7  support. Providers typically respond during regular business hours

  • Social Media, email, or website contact forms are not appropriate for crisis situations and should not be used to seek emergency support.

5.Crisis Protocol During Sessions

  • If a client discloses intentions of self-harm or harm to others during a session, the clinician will take necessary steps to ensure safety, including contacting emergency services if needed. 

  • Therapists are mandated reporters and will act in compliance with legal and ethical standards when a client's safety is at risk ​

6. Safety Planning

If you are concerned about managing a crisis outside of session times, please develop a safety plan with your clinician, a copy can be found below.

7. Understanding Our Scope

While Progress Not Perfection Counseling is committed to providing therapeutic support, we do not offer: 

  • Crisis intervention Services (outside of session time)

  • On-call therapy or same-day appointments

  • Psychiatric Care

8. Acknowledgment

By using our services, you acknowledge that you understand and accept the limitations of our crisis support. We encourage all clients to be proactive about safety and have access to crisis services.
